Ardbeg Distillery
Ardbeg Distillery on Islay is a distillery that has been making whisky on this island for over 200 years. Described as a whisky that is ‘worshipped around the world’ it has won many worldwide prestigious awards over its time. Situated just outside of Port Ellen it produces the most peated of all the Islay Malts.

Many whisky connoisseurs have made the visit to Ardbeg distillery as its reputation precedes itself for being one of the world’s finest whiskies. And that it is. Made from the land of Islay with its acres of peat, fertile soils and soft water Ardbeg whisky is born through a complex distillation process. This distillery is open for all to visit and learn about its history, its distilling process and of course its whisky. Furthermore, you can head to the cafe to refuel after some exploration.

With a range of tours on offer, you’re spoilt for choice. Split into seasonal tours over Winter and Summer you can choose whichever tickles your appetite. Whatever you choose you will learn much about this much-loved whisky, the distillery and the process of making it. And you will get to sample its delights and maybe learn a whisky cocktail or two. There is something for everyone to explore whether you are a whisky connoisseur or a complete whisky novice. But a trip to Islay is not complete without a visit to Ardbeg Distillery. It quite simply is part of the Islay experience.
Eat
After a tipple or two and some exploration of Ardbeg distillery, you will have worked up an appetite. The Old Kiln Cafe offers a delicious menu serving home-cooked food from 10am to 4.14pm. Check opening times to see if the cafe is open when you plan to visit. Additionally, from April to October the Ardstream Trailer is also open for business and ready to refuel you.
