Important to point out is Islay can be windy and partial to the grey skies and the wet stuff but don’t let that deter you! Just make sure you pack some good waterproofs! However, we do get a lot of nice weather too which is when cycling on Islay is at its very best. There is a choice of routes that you choose from that all take in a variety of interesting sites. This cycling leaflet provides you with all you need to know to plan your routes.
Book NowWhat you can see when cycling on Islay
Well, of course, there will be plenty of stunning coastline, the odd whisky distillery and an abundance of wildlife to see as you pedal away. As you work your way around single track winding roads, you will take in the gorgeous landscape that unfolds around you. For instance, if you choose ‘Route 3 in this guide‘ you will stumble upon Kilchiaran Bay which will take your breath away. Here are the ruins of an old chapel which overlooks the bay. Take a virtual ‘sneak peek’ of this cycle route and see what is in store.
Bring your own bike or hire one
It is entirely up to you if you want to bring your own bike or hire one. Both options are easily available. If you bring your own bike then there will be a small fee for it on the ferry.
